Fechtschule und Harnischtreffen 26-28 Sept in Burg Husen (Germany)

I was invited to teach Razmafzar, hold a speech on the development of armor in Iran and as well show the reproduction of the Safavid armor made by Razmafzar armorer Mr. Sergey Gorbatko.  On Saturday 26 September, Mr. Heiko Grosse, my assistant instructor came to pick me up at 8 o'clock. My children were already awake.  Heiko fetched me and we headed to Burg Husen.  On the way, we discussed the future expansion plan and seminar programs for the Razmafzar organization as well the pending research programs.  We had received many encouraging messages from 9 fnederations from Germany, Russia, Ukraine, USA, Italy, Malta, Portugal, UK and Spain and we happily discussed that.

Mr. Jan Gosewinkel kindly invited us to the event.  The whole event was organized by Tremonia Fechten and PSV Una.  The seminar program was as follows:

We arrived on time to watch "Halbe Stange nach Mair" by Mr. Janseps and "Ringen und Schwert im Harnisch nach Gladiatoria" by Mr. Laurent Remtgen (HF Luxemburg, Captain of the BotN Luxembourg).  Very interesting seminars indeed.  I was especially interested to see the application of sword and wrestling in European.  The next seminar was our seminar.  As I was physically restricted I asked Heiko to teach the whole seminar and I would only explain in between if required.  I was so happy to see so many interested people and especially BotN team and the captain of Luexmbourg Mr. Lauren Remtgen who also took part in the seminar. Heiko started to teach the fundamental stance and guard and shamshir and separ and the research background.

Then Heiko explained the mechanics of the first combination in Razmafzar.

Combination 1šamšir bar farq zadan: to strike the sword on top of the head

šamšir bar gardan zadan (az čap bar rāst zadan): to strike the neck (from left to right), šamšir bar farq zadan: to strike the sword on top of the head

Then Heiko moved on to teach the second combination of Razmafzar to the participants.

Combination 2: šamšir bar farq zadan: to strike the sword on top of the head

šamšir bar gardan zadan (az rāst bar čap zadan): to strike the neck (from right to left), šamšir bar farq zadan: to strike the sword on top of the head

The next move shown by Heiko was the third combination in the first level of Razmafzar system.

Combination 3: šamšir bar farq zadan: to strike the sword on top of the head

šamšir bar zir-e baqal zadan: to strike the armpit, šamšir bar farq zadan: to strike the sword on top of the head

Then Heiko moved on to explain the fourth combination in the first level of Razmafzar system which deals with attacking the legs.

Combination 4: šamšir bar farq zadan: to strike the sword on top of the head, šamšir bar pāy zadan (az rāst bar čap zadan): to strike the leg (from right to left), šamšir bar gardan zadan (az čap bar rāst zadan): to strike the neck (from left to right),

I stressed the importance in the variation of power and speed in different combinations and even each combination had to be carried out in different varieties.

Then Heiko showed the particpants one of the evasion techniques in the Razmafzar system: Combination 8: bā pahnā-ye šamšir defā kardan (to defend with the flat of the sword) variation 1, šamšir bar pas-e gardan zadan (az rāst be čap zadan): to strike the neck (from right to left), šamšir bar halq zadan (az čap bar rāst zadan): to strike the throat (from left to right),

In the next stage, heiko demonstarted the use of a wrestling move in armored combat Yanbāš(leader of the side: variation 1)

At the end of the event I gave a lecture on the development of Persian arms and armor from the Sassanid period to the end of the Qajar period with the title "The Development of Persian Armour from the Sassanid to the Qajar Period". At the same time, Heiko put on the reproduction of the early Safavid armor to the participants. similar to the Razmafzar seminar, participants really liked the lecture. There were many of them present in the lecture.

It was a very sucessful event. We would like to thank all of our friends.

After the seminar we had to go back to Franfurt and unfortunately could not stay for the barbecue party.  It was a very successful event and I would like to thank everybody for their interest.
